radiator light on
Yesterday 1995 c280 stalled on the road and I could not restart it and all the lights were on. I came back and tried to restart but this time only radiator light was on. I opened the hood and noticed that there was big hole (#1 in the picture http://www.satrattan.com/mb/rad/rad1.jpg) I unclamped the hose attached to it #2.
To illustrate my point, I took another picture http://www.satrattan.com/mb/rad/rad2.jpg #3 (hose) is continuous with the cracked plastic part.
Please help me about the following:
Is it simple enough that I can do it?
What is this part?

If you're skilled enough then it's easy for you to change it. I would recommend that you go to the stealership and get that hose.

So i guess you lost your coolant and the engine over heated then shutdown?
That plastic part you pictured requires you drop the coolant remove the rear engine bay wall, undo the hoses and refit the plastic bit.

thanks for the info
i was able to install new mp3 cd player and i was able to change the fuel filter.
do you think that this much ability is enough to do my next project of changing "that plastic thingy"/
i am kinda receiving encouragement from your posts

Np!,its not to hard, you will need to remove the upper portion of sound deadening material at the rear of the engine to give access to the screws that remove the wall.
I think the fuel lines and and possibly a few other minor things may need there brackets removed to allow the deadening to come out ok.

hmm your engine may have been cooked in the procedure
but fix the part start it up and drive it and see how you get on

thank god, the engine is not cooked.
your replies are encouraging me to do it myself.
please look at this picture http://www.satrattan.com/mb/rad/rad3.jpg
