How do I know when my suspension is shot?

You can be assured that with almost 10 years on the car it is time for a change in shocks. But the things to look for are the ocillating, up and down movement of the chassis long after you hit a bump, the sloppy controlled body roll as you enter a corner and again the sloppy undifined chassis movement through a series of S turns.

Ok, I have noticed some of what you described. Even though it is 10 years old... I just hit the 40k mileage mark last week beleive it or not. My Grandma never drove it.
