hey guys..i need help to improve my
c180 1994 performance since it has no
power at all..

what can i do to improve the acceleration??
and HP...basically improve it's power..

i heard i can swap my cylinder head with c200's
cylinder head...is that true??

is there any possibilities i could get
15seconds in 1/4miLe (402m) but still
able to drive it as my daily car..

i hope this thread could be useful for
everyone with the same trouble as i do..

Hi,I believe there is quit a few threads on this topic here...
It all depends on how much Money you have...
but I will say there is not alot of power to be made from a mercs1800 NA engine(unless a benz weighs under 1000kg)
Just do the usual mods ie intake, exhaust, headers, maybe chip.you might gain 15hp
if you have money slap on a blower and new computer:)

the best choice for hp and torque improvement, would be forced induction. a turbo or a compressor. and to give the fuel needed, you´d need to change the inyectors and make the changes in the ecu (chip!)
deppending on the psi your turbo is blowing, you may need to change some internal engine parts.
hope it heps
good luck

do you guys have any brand name??
because im having trouble finding a turbo kit..
all i can find is an engine swap by brabus..

what about the estimation price??
im thinking to go crazy on this project..
hope i can get some more money..

is the internal parts of c180 engine is strong enough
to handle "some" changes...???

You can go with Mosselman Turbos: www.mosselmanturbo.com

Not sure if koolvin is still around but he has a C180 with a single Mosselman Turbo. You could search for his posts. Good info, and it appears he likes the increased power.

If only you came on board last year. One of the guys was selling his Mosselman Turbo (UnderPressure). Not sure if he sold it though. Might be worth to follow up on.

Wont a c200 head lower your compression? aka less power.

but i will get a bigget displacement
..right??

Its quit possible the 180 and 200 head are identical(but im not sure),usually they very bore and stroke sizes to get diplacement...

if the 200 head was taller than you would have a lower compression ratio and in N/A land this means less horse power...

But if the 200 head had identical clearance than "maybe" the ports may flow alittle more due to the bigger engine it was designed for....
there will only be very small gains in doin this if any.

But all in all I think you would be best to obtain a turbo kit.Keep standard internals, run low boost 5-9psi...

or you could just change engines....23K,C28,C36 etc...

before i was really interested in putting c36 engine
and then i did some research on it..

i stop my reserarch since i found out that the C36 AMG for my country is ordered specially by my goverment (indonesia) for the asean meeting or some sort in 1995..

so the unit is very limited and i heard there`s a person who ever tried to do the conversion..tryin to put a C36 engine into a C180 car...after a year the ProJect is stopped because the workshop cant do it anymore..the engine wiring, everything..basically he has to change everything..

so any other idea what i can do about my condition now?
do you think it`s better to put supercharger or turbo??
which one is more efficient?? regarding power and price..
thank you for your input though..appreciate it..

Hmmm....I think go turbo, its much easier to vary boost etc, also most turbo is more efficiant than SC...
but of corse you have more lag with turbo...hence why benz Have SC for high power numbers down low in rev range...

Any good performance garage will be able to whip you up a manifold + IC and piping + turbo + new comp and tuning....not to mention oil feed, new sparkplugs, downpipe,BOV,external wastegate(probley internal) this all ends up costing big $$$$$....so if I may ask...how much do you intend to spend??

Infact its probley cheaper to sell the 180 and get A 230k;)

well how bout the engine..before (been a while though) i saw a c200 engine..and it cost around U$1800..hmm..installation cost about U$500...

im starting to get frustated in this project..more like a project impossible for me.. maybe the only way out is to forget more power and bring up the elegance instead..because actually im planning to use this car to do a drag race first..after i won some race(s) (maybe..hopefully) then i will retired from the track and start the good-looking project..

..huGe rims..leather trim.. get it lowered.. re-paint it (maybe) ..change into clear lens.. smoke the rear tail lights.. extreme audio in the rear seats.. fuahh.. sounds much easier and make sense..what do u think??

I agree with 23K. You'd probably be better off swapping for a car w/ a larger motor if you want to win races.

what about C200 engine..will it helps??
because i all i could find is the used C200
engine from singapore..(or german, im not sure
because i think the C200 for my country is CBU,
but again, im not sure)...

do you have any other idea..??
what about the the 80's 280E
im thinking about getting one..
it costs about $6000..

is this car have more options
for additional power??
can you give me the suggestions on
which year or type i should get..

i've checked out some and i notice some of them
have different options..
(variations such as leather trim or moonroof, etc, etc)
but again which year is the most relaiable..for the engine..
because sometimes certain production year have a "flaw"
on it right??

am i on the right track for more power??
thank you guys for your input..
