can exhaust wrap be used on the air intake tube to keep the cool air in the tube, I plan on wraping my exhaust manifold with the exhaust wrap to keep underhood temp down. any thoughts ?

Yes it can.
It will help a little to keep the intake charge cooler. ;)

Tell us how it goes Andrew. This idea has been kicking in my mind for years, just never got around doing it.

wouldn't do it, there are no benfits other than 80 dollars left my wallet.
1 manifolds are too hard to wrap.
2 air intake tube is to hard to wrap
3 no noticeable increase in proformance
2 thumbs way down on this mod.
one thing i did notice is that the air intake piece that goes over the engine has two compartments where it directs the air on the C36 model is this the same will post a drawing later of what i mean.

That sucks, but how is it long drive wise?

took temps on my way home from school about 30 min drive then wraped the manifold which was about the hardest thing i have ever done with out removeing them from the car. no difference in proformance and the thermometer couldnt measure the difference in temp.

ok this diagram is the tube that runs over the engine and to the throttel body the air comes in which is the red arrows, and the black rounded square is in the tube the air can not flow there my question is to anyone with a C36 is your air tube the same or have they removed the block to allow more air to flow through or is this to create turbulance ?
check out this link to an Audi forum where this guy obtained positive results from insulating the MAF sensor
